09 Sep WISBA 2015 has started at ETH Zurich!
24 Students and 7 mentors meet this week in Zurich at ETH to face the challenge to work in interdisciplinary, international teams on two research scenarios: How performs the lighthouse project Building 2226 by architects Baumschlager Eberle in the light of two future scenarios? One scenario deals with the changing climate and its impact on the performance of the building in the next 35 years. The second scenario analysis the building with regard to potential changed use as a dwelling. These two scenarios pick up key requirements for sustainable buildings: The capacity to anticipate an unknown future!
As a kick-off students visited with their mentors this year’s case study building 2226 by Baumschlager Eberle in Lustenau. At this occasion Dietmar Eberle, the architect, gave us exciting insights on his vision and the building! Based on this input and intense training from the mentors from 7 European universities students start their analysis of the existing building.
